5 Amazing Ways to not have a traditional wedding.

Dogs at weddings

INCLUDE THE DOG IN THE BRIDAL PARTY

Now I have a dog and she is a HUGE part of our family so I assume yours is too! Why would you not want them at your wedding? They will add amazing memories plus they can wear a bow tie! So what if they are a little bit naughty and steal some cake they are your best friend after all.

Luckily more and more venues are now friendly to the idea of people having their dog at their wedding and two of my favourites are Penton Park in Hampshire and Smedmore House in Dorset both of which can facilitate your dog being a part of your day all day!

RUN AWAY & ELOPE

More and more are people choosing this option for their way to get married. Legally you can get married anywhere in Scotland for example and with dramatic scenery and wild weather, this appeals to those adventurous and romantic souls who want to run away and declare their love for one another.

This is definitely something I would consider as the thought of being the centre of attention in front of dozens of people for 12hrs kind of scares me. While wilderness and adventure with Luke makes my heart sing.

Dorchester Hotel London

HAVE AN INTIMATE CITY WEDDING

There are some stunning registry offices in London. Islington Town Hall and Mayfair Library just being two possibilities so you can have a small and intimate ceremony with your nearest and dearest.

As for reception venues... well two of my favourites are the private dining at The Dorchester Hotel or if you are looking for something even cosier and lowkey you have The Gantry in Brockley which has the most beautiful and homely private dining rooms with quirky furniture and a warm welcome.

Outdoor Wedding Ceremonies

GET MARRIED OUTSIDE

Now, this isn't a new idea. I think there are huge numbers of couples who dream of getting married outside but aren't quite brave enough to risk the weather.

Getting married outside will not only give you an incredible experience saying your vows in all of the natures wonder but the photos will be pretty damn lovely too! And there are plenty of ways to reduce the risk as well!

Choose a venue that has a backup option where you can have the ceremony inside if the heavens were to open. Venues like Salomons Estate in Kent have this option. Another option to definitely stay dry and make nature a part of your ceremony is to have a clear marquee wedding. These are stunning and well worth looking into if bringing the outside inside is a part of your day. You can take a look at companies like Hatch Marquee Hire who do clear marquees and they are stunning!

EMBRACE RICHER & MOODIER TONES

Pinterest is heavy with light and airy wedding inspiration. All those blush pinks and pale greys, yep they are pretty but it's all getting a bit boring. Don't get me wrong they are stunning but everywhere. And if that's not your cup of tea THEN DON'T DO IT!

Maybe a more rich and moody vibe is for you...

Think rich blues and greens set off with golds and silvers. Go heavy on the botanicals and throw in some succulents for good measure. Oh and don't forget to create some amazing lighting to bring that atmosphere later in the evening. Don't be afraid to make a statement.
