The Asylum Chapel wedding photography with Anna & Thom.

The Asylum Chapel wedding photography

And finally I am blogging my 2022 weddings! This year was such an incredible with some wonderful weddings and it all started with Anna & Thom and they’re gorgeous spring time London wedding at The Asylum Chapel in Peckham. I was so excited to finally photograph at this iconic London wedding venue.

I had done a styled shoot previously at The Asylum and also second shot but had yet to have my own wedding there so I was so happy when Anna & Thom booked me. This place is just incredible and a photographers dream. It’s a bombed out church in South London that has been turned into an event and photo shoot location. The beautiful decay and light is ultimately what makes it so special.

We started the day at a family property nearby for preparation which was incredibly relaxed but filled with some special moments. Anna wore one of my favourite dress designers Andrea Hawkes, her beautiful and modern designs have become the perfect choice for a more contemporary look. And Anna looked wonderful in hers.

This must have been my dream wedding because I also got to work with the extremely talented London florist Unruly Flowers. I love Katie’s work because she creates the most beautiful wedding flowers but has sustainability at the forefront of what she does.

Everything was perfect for this ceremony, the light, the people, the love and also the moments that played out, including Anna & Thom’s inability to stay in one place throughout due to nerves. It was wonderful. After the ceremony we all headed outside for confetti and a few group photos before heading back inside the Asylum for drinks.

A little while later a traditional red London bus came to collect everyone and take them to The Lordship Pub in Dulwich for the reception. Always love the bus’s, are you even having a London wedding if you don’t have a red bus???

I love the Lordship Pub, this was my first visit and it’s a beautiful bright space with lots of traditional pub features but with a modern edge. It’s just a great London pub wedding venue and I am looking forward to going back in May this year. Oh and the food is just incredible.

The afternoon was filled with food, drink and some great speeches that featured Mr Whippy Ice Creams. It was then on to an evening of dancing with some additional guests arriving for the evening. Basically it was the perfect London wedding day and it was such a privilege to capture this for Anna & Thom.

A couple of other suppliers I didn’t mention: Thom’s suit was from Beggar’s Run and hair & makeup was done by Myla & Davis

Enjoy the photos!

The Asylum Chapel is an iconic London wedding venue based in Peckham, South East London. It is well known for it’s unique but beautiful decaying look and has become a firm favourite for couples wanting a wedding venue with a difference. It also has the most incredible light.

If you get married at the Asylum the best way to make the most of the space is to have your ceremony there (I always love a celebrant led wedding but they are licensed for marriages) followed by confetti and group photos on the gorgeous steps at the front before enjoying your drinks reception inside. It’s also an amazing space for your couple photos.

Mavericks projects also have another venue 8mins away called AMP Studios which is the perfect place to continue your day and have your reception and party under the railway arches. If that’s not your thing then there are plenty of other amazing options.

I have had couples get married at the Asylum Chapel and then head over to a local pub like The Lordship and I even had one wedding where they piled all their guests on to a London red bus and took them to the river to have their reception on a boat down the Thames before arriving at Trinity Buoy Wharf for their reception.

I love the freedom that having a ceremony at The Asylum Chapel gives so you can create the rest of your day to whatever you like.
