Wedding photo of the week. Eleven.

Wedding photo of the week eleven_0001.jpg

So consistency with this kind of went out the window for the past couple of weeks. However, I feel I can be forgiven considering what has unfolded in that time. Two weeks ago today I was doing a photo shoot and going to the cinema. Oh how things have changed.

Fast forward two weeks and I am at home for the foreseeable future with no work and unable to see my horse let alone friends or family. I am not the only one though whose life has changed so dramatically and so quickly. EVERYONE has experienced a huge trauma as we come to terms with what we need to do to tackle the invisible monster that is Covid-19.

There is a lot of fear and sadness around right now while we collect the pieces of our lives and shape them into this new normal. At the same time though I have witnessed monumental acts of kindness and communities come together in ways we have never seen before. I am also immensely proud of my industry. We were the first to be hit with our businesses coming to a grinding halt literally overnight and I have seen nothing but wonderful things from my fellow weddings suppliers as they mediate their way through these unchartered waters while trying to desperately do their best by their couples.

And to you my amazing couples, I can’t imagine anything worse than knowing you are going to have to postpone the day you have been planning for months and years. These times are unprecedented and every one of you I have spoken to have been nothing but wonderful and all I can say now is that your day will be even more special as we will be so excited for those beautiful happy days filled with love to start again.

I also need to be thankful to all of my couples who have showed so much concern for myself, many people are aware that there is currently no support in place for the self-employed, we are anxiously awaiting some sort of announcement soon and the kind emails and messages I have received from my clients have made all this so much easier, so thank you.

So why have I chosen this image as wedding photo of the week. Well for a start Alex & Henry’s Cambridge wedding last summer was epic. There is another reason I love this photo though. After every ceremony you always have these moments just after where everyone is hugging and congratulating. It is truly celebratory and I have never realised how grateful I am for those moments until this past couple of weeks. Right now where we have enforced social distancing I for one can’t wait for these moments to return, where you can hug those you love again without fear you are endangering them.

In the meantime though, stay connected. We are so lucky to live in a time where we can still fill our days with happy moments because of technology. Check in on those you love, make the most of the downtime and remember to look after yourself. Stay safe everyone and I promise that photo of the week will be returning every week.
