Happy New Year!

Now before I start I know I have tried this before and my consistency was… well poor. I was thinking though about how I would like to showcase the best of my 2019. Everyone seems to do a blog or a slideshow as I have previously but I wanted to try something different. Then I thought BIGGER.

2020 is the 10th year of being a wedding photographer for me and my 5th year of it being my full time job. Huge achievement and I haven’t been entirely sure on how I should celebrate/reflect on it. Then it hit me. I can restart the photo of the week.

Over the course of this year, every week I am going to show off one of my favourite wedding photos from my career and talk about why I love it. It’s going to be a great exercise in reflecting on my work and how far I have come. I feel excited about this, which is why I hope I am going to stick with it. I may have to do some batch blogging for when things get hectic.

So day one. I am starting with an emotional one from Eleanor & Bill’s outdoor Essex wedding.
Today is an emotional day for many as we welcome in the new year and say goodbye to the old. Which is another reason for choosing one from bridal prep as well.

This is always such an interesting part of the day. It’s a ritual as you prepare to step into the next stage of your life and emotion can run high as in a way you are also saying goodbye to a part of who you are.

This moment between Eleanor and her bridesmaid was so special. Everything had just hit Eleanor as she had finished getting ready and was moments away from marrying Bill. Stood in one of the bedrooms of her parents house with the ceremony a short walk away in the garden, Eleanor started to cry and her bridesmaid was there to make sure her friend felt supported.

That is the absolute beauty of weddings and why I love them. The whole day is built on the love between two people and the people who love them and with that combination comes all these little moments that are the ones I love to capture.
