Jones & Sons, Dalston wedding with Liz & Juan.

Jones & Sons, Dalston wedding venue

I am very excited to share this wonderful and fun wedding from September 2024. I always love an Islington Town Hall ceremony and this London was also exciting as I finally got to photograph at Jones & Sons in Dalston. This is a stunning East London venue that used to be a textile factory so it has also those beautiful industrial feels.

Liz & Juan were bringing friends and family together from all over the world and it was really important to them that their day was relaxed so there would be plenty of space to spend time with people. This is always such an important thing with weddings, make sure there is space to actually enjoy and be present on the day.

This is why having a documentary wedding photographer like me was key for them. And it was so wonderful for me to be a part of this day. Juan is Colombian so there was a real desire to bring in elements from home for him and that really shone through in the party where they had an epic salsa band to bring everyone together for some dancing.

But we skip ahead… Throughout the day it was so clear how much these two love one another AND how much they are loved by their friends and family. This was a real weaving of humans and the joy of connection.

The venue Jones & Sons really supported this. They have the outdoor terrace which some might say is a bit of a squeeze but photographically this is a lot of fun, everyone huddled together chatting enjoying yummy canapés and champagne. And then there is the main restaurant, which just has this very cool industrial vibe to it. I also really loved the flowers by Rebel Rebel who are such a great East London florist.

The meal & speeches was held in this space and can I just say that the food here is absolutely divine and the staff are just so so lovely and helpful. I really feel like these are two key things to look for when planning a wedding, excellent food and suppliers that care.

We took some time at sunset to grab some couple photos in the local area and Dalston has so much opportunity for great couple photos but we kept it simple with some nearby streets so L&J could get back to their guests. We don’t need to overcomplicate things when it comes to the posed stuff.

And then it was the party. The back room at Jones & Sons is super cool. It feels like a warehouse nightclub and has a great disco ball. The salsa got everyone going and I also loved that Liz changed into a white jumpsuit and trainers so she could really get on the dancefloor.

I loved photographing this wedding, so much joy and love. I am always grateful that I get to bear witness and immortalise these days for people.
