Asylum Chapel & Clapton Country Club, an EPIC London wedding.

Asylum Chapel & Clapton Country Club wedding

Its a bold move but if there is one couple who could pull this off it was Ele & Jonny. This is what it looks like when you choose two of London’s most iconic wedding venues to celebrate your day. This adorable couple chose The Asylum Chapel in Peckham, South London for their wedding ceremony AND THEN Clapton Country Club in East London for their reception and party.

These two venues are two of my absolute favourites to photograph at and so to get to photograph them both in one day feels pretty cool. And this wedding was EPIC and HOT.

I started off the day at the Asylum a little before the start of the ceremony to capture everyone arriving. The Asylum is a chapel not far from the Old Kent Road that was bombed in world war two and it was never fully restored so now you have this beautiful derelict space for weddings and event’s. The light and the stained glass windows never fail to create the most stunning backdrop for wedding ceremonies & photos. AND the team at Mavericks Project are always so lovely to work with.

This was my fourth wedding at The Asylum and Ele & Jonny really made it their own. I think we can all agree that Ele looked incredible in her wedding dress from Rock & Lace Bridal and Jonny definitely thought so too. I loved how emotional everyone was. After the ceremony everyone piled out into heat for confetti and then drinks before jumping on a bus to go over the Thames.

I love the London vintage bus’s, it’s such a cool way to transport your guests but I will say it was little warm this day. I loved everyone hanging out at the back of the bus trying to stay cool.

We then arrived at Clapton Country Club. Again this has become such a favourite London wedding venue. It’s a former horse drawn tram depot and steeped in East London history. The space was refurbished with all reclaimed and recycled materials so it really is a unique spot for a wedding. Sweet Pea Rosa their florist did a beautiful job of decorating the venue to really compliment its unique vibe.

E&J really made the most of their time here. And one thing I absolutely loved was their speeches. So many people had so many wonderful things to say about them as individuals and as a couple. Speeches are always such a favourite moment of mine because they have all the love, emotion and laughs. I also love it when couples break tradition here. Speeches are not just for Cis Men ;)

We then rolled into the evening and the light was glorious so we popped out for some couple photos. Of course we included that iconic Tram Depot sign but we also played with some of the more industrial and East London spots of the area. I feel like these really added to the photos we already captured at The Asylum. I never spend long with couple photos, we don’t want you miss your day! 20mins or so is usually more than enough.

It was then party time and the dance floor filled easily with all their friends & family.
Capturing this day was such a joy, there are a lot of photos because there was just so many moments that I loved.

What Ele & Jonny had to say about working with me…

So talented, I can't recommend Ami enough! Ami photographed our wedding in London in July. Their photos are insanely beautiful, we are so happy beyond words. They have been incredibly professional throughout the day. They directed us and our guests with passion and patience, and the result is outstanding. The colours and light in their photos are a masterpiece. And the composition... their photos belong to a museum! Do not hesitate, Ami is the best choice to portray your day!
