Chapel Market Tavern, Islington wedding venue

Chapel Market Tavern is one of my favourite pubs in Islington for a London wedding. It’s especially perfect if you are getting married at Islington Town Hall and want gorgeous pub with great food to celebrate at after. I have photographed weddings here a couple of times now and I always love it.

Maddie & Jake got in touch earlier this year and we hit it off straight away. They wanted a relaxed London wedding with all their favourite people and those are my favourite type of wedding. I was especially excited because Maddie made her dress, I LOVE it when this happens, she also made all of the ties.

They had chosen Islington Town Hall for their ceremony and I always love a visit to this ceremony venue. I photograph weddings there several times a year and it’s always such a great space to photograph in, no matter the time of year or weather. And speaking of weather… this wedding had it all. The most gorgeous late summer sunshine AND the heaviest rain I have had for a while.

So lets chat about weather and weddings for a moment. I hear you, no one wants rain but… it can really make a wedding day even better. Just check out the photos below. The downpour made for some great photos after the ceremony, M&J’s parents sheltering under the cover at the fruit & veg shop across the road, everyone having to get the public bus rather than walk, people wearing confetti baskets on their heads. All of these are incredible memories and some of my favourite photos from this year. So advice for rain… fuck it, make the most of it and don’t be precious.

After our wet adventure through Islington we arrived at the Chapel Market Tavern for drinks before everyone sat down to eat. The food at this pub is sooooo good and the staff are so lovely. The space also has these huge windows downstairs for amazing light and then upstairs is quirky with rich green walls and old but cool paintings that make for some great photos.

After food downstairs everyone headed upstairs for more drinks, speeches, cake cutting AND Mario Cart before dancing. I am so grateful that I got to be Maddie & Jake’s wedding photographer and below are many of my favourite photos from this fun wedding day.
