Wilton's Music Hall, another wonderful East London wedding venue.

Wilton's Music Hall, London wedding venue

I was so excited to finally photograph a wedding at Wilton’s Music Hall near Whitechapel in East London and it did not disappoint. This gorgeous wedding venue is one of the oldest surviving music halls in the country and parts of the building are as old as the late 1600s with the music hall itself being built in 1859 by John Wilton.

This space is filled with character. It has that distressed, derelict vibe that looks like art and you can feel the history. 1000s of performances have taken place here and it’s still fully operational as a music hall so when you get married here you really are choosing a space that is incredibly special.

Photographing a wedding here is both really epic and delightfully challenging. Creativity happens in tension & friction which is why I love a challenge when it comes to my work. Wilton’s is stunning and I love how they light the space, there are loads of nooks & crannies to explore and the main hall gives you so many different angles to work with throughout the day. I think I did around 15,000 steps and 40 flights of stairs for this wedding!

I love these images and I loved my couple Ben & Kit who had a really gorgeous vision for their day in this venue. We began upstairs in dressing room two where them, their Mum’s & Bridesmaids were getting ready along with their super cute dog Pickles! More dogs at weddings please.

I also just love it when my couples get ready together. I am seeing this more and more and it’s such a sweet thing to do together. B&K bought their suits from Zebel and I loved the blue & green tones. They had some really lovely personal touches like their cufflinks & Taylor Swift style bracelets.

One of things I love about Wilton’s is that the venue is a statement in itself so you don’t need to go to hard on the decor if you don’t want to and I loved what B&K chose with flowers from Grace & Thorn to decorate the stage for the ceremony and then the tables later.

The ceremony was perfect, with beautiful readings and Pickles being a very good boy with his ring bearer duties. We then had the biggest confetti throw outside in the alley before some group photos and drinks. The staff are really great at Wilton’s and I loved the Caterers, Cater London who did the most incredible food and were just lovely to work with.

Another really nice touch that I loved was that Ben & Kit had an illustrator comes for the day to draw and paint their guests. I was in awe of how Lauren Marie Studio managed to capture everyone and this is such a lovely keepsake. This really shows how important everyone is to Ben & Kit, that they wanted to capture the memory of their wedding in so many beautiful ways. They also had the brilliant Skye from Aloha Films come to capture the day with me.

Everything about this wedding was so personal and this continued well into the speeches which were from their Mums and Bridesmaids as well as each other. This is what I love about weddings, people who love each other coming together to tell each other how much they love each other with a few laughs and tears.

I loved capturing this wedding and I am so grateful that Ben & Kit chose me to be their wedding photographer, below are a few of my favourite images from the day.

The other brilliant suppliers to mention are: HMUA Lauren Irwin, Cake by Lola’s, DJ was Fizz & Groove and the Photobooth was Lunar Shot.
