Museum of the Home, an East London Wedding Venue

Welcome to the wonderful and intimate East London wedding of Eve & Ben. I photographed this wedding in 2024 and I can’t believe I am only just getting round to sharing it. I loved this couple and how they celebrated their love for each other.

I began my day at their flat where they chose to get ready together with their gorgeous cat! I love it when couples reject traditions and instead make their day their own. I firmly believe that getting ready together is one of the nicest things you can do. Eve had her hair and makeup done by Cat Gibbons Bridal who is also her friend. And I LOVED her wedding dress which came from the talented Mary Benson, it looked amazing and had pockets! Ben also looked wonderful in his green suit from Edit Suit Co.

And we can take a moment for the flowers from Philipa Day, one of my favourite London wedding florists. There was so much colour!

After everyone got ready and we had tortured the cat for some photos we hopped in a black cab and made our way to The Museum of the Home in Shoreditch. When I used to live in East London, I used to walk past this place most days so I was excited to get to photograph a wedding here.

The Museum of the Home in Shoreditch offers a unique, historic backdrop for weddings with atmospheric period rooms, a light-filled ceremony hall, and beautifully kept gardens. Its intimate scale is perfect for relaxed couples who also want a memorable venue to get married in. It’s central Shoreditch location makes it convenient and I loved how many great spots there were for couple photos while guests enjoyed drinks in the gardens.

A little of its history: originally founded as the Geffrye Museum in 1914, the museum began as a collection illustrating the evolution of domestic interiors in England. Housed in former 18th-century almshouses and later expanded with contemporary galleries and conservation work, the site charts social and design changes across centuries. Recent redevelopment has restored many period rooms and enhanced garden spaces, preserving original architectural features while adapting the venue for modern events. This blend of historic fabric and thoughtful renovation gives wedding days at the museum a layered, authentic atmosphere that photographs particularly well.

The ceremony was so sweet, with lots of emotion and I loved the colourful backdrop provided by The Enchanted Dreamer, they have such beautiful wedding decor!

After the ceremony and some drinks in the gardens we all took a short walk to The Marksman Pub, which is one of my favourite East London pubs for weddings. First of all, it’s a really cool space. The private room has a gorgeous terrace for drinks outside and the decor is so cool, creating a perfect atmosphere for more intimate weddings. Oh and the food is just ridiculously epic with the most lovely staff.

Everyone got to enjoy drinks in the sun on the terrace along with some wonderful speeches from all their parents before heading inside for an incredible feast of pie! It was a merry afternoon and evening filled with a lot of love.

A joy of a wedding to capture and I hope you enjoy the photos!
