The Duke Organic, Islington. A wonderful London pub wedding.
I have been meaning to blog this gorgeous London pub wedding at The Duke Organic in Islington for ages and I can’t believe it was a whole 18months ago. Ella & Selvin chose to have a small and intimate day with all of their favourite people and they happened to pick the 16th May which is my birthday! Yes I worked on my birthday but it was so nice to spend it with this group of humans.
We began the day at an Airbnb walking distance from Islington Town Hall. Both E&S got ready in the same building with their family and this meant I could easily switch between the two to capture the excitement of final touches before a first look outside. This is such a sweet moment that they got to experience with their family. We then all walked in the rain to the Town Hall and captured some couple photos on the way with the iconic cinema and fire station.
When we arrived at Islington Town Hall we were greeted by all their friends before we headed inside for the ceremony in Room 99. I have photographed so many weddings in this room over the years and it’s perfect for more intimate days with up to 20 guests. The refurbishment a few years ago transformed it into a bright & beautiful space that has become one of the most popular places to get married. The ceremony was short and sweet. E&S filled it with their loving energy and after we got to take some photos inside the town hall before going outside for confetti and group photos. And it had stopped raining!
It’s not a London wedding without a little rain.
Everyone then walked down Upper Street to The Duke Organic. This was my first visit to this beautiful pub in the back streets of Islington and I have been back a couple of time since. The space is the back is bright, with it’s glass ceiling and filled with plants. It’s an L shape so lots of creative angles for photography. Because it was my birthday they invited me to sit with them for the meal, so I can tell you firsthand that the food here is AMAZING. The staff are so lovely as well.
They scattered their heartfelt and beautiful speeches throughout the afternoon and when it was time for me to leave they were just starting to get started with some dancing. This was such a personal, intimate and heartfelt day. I hope you enjoy feeling that from the photos.
