Wedding photo of the week. Nine.

wedding photographer in kent

So week nine of wedding photo of the week is a little late. I had a very social weekend and wanted to make a point of being away from a computer for a while as it always does me good. Wedding season consists of lots of time in front of a screen so I do like to make the most of not being tied to a desk.

It’s been a great week though with a couple of new wedding bookings and I have meetings lined up for this week as well. It won’t be much longer and I will be closing my diary for 2020 and I am so excited about all the weddings I will be photographing this year from Cripps Barn in the Cotswolds to Smedmore House in Dorset to a family farm in Scotland. It is going to be epic.

So back to photo of the week and today I am sharing an image from Fran & Dan’s beautiful Kent wedding in 2018. The reason I have chose this one is because it is one of my favourite golden hour photos and I want to talk to you about why I love this time of a wedding day for couple photos.

I absolutely hate taking couples away from their guests for long periods of time so I always try to maximise the pockets of time where a wedding day is transitioning. That’s why I always try to get the small amount of groups my couples want done after the ceremony and it’s also why we pop out for couple photos in the evening and not really during the drinks reception.

This way of working also means people stay happy. They don’t feel like they are missing out and well if it’s an epic sunset like this one was then that’s something pretty special to enjoy on your wedding day. It’s also the most flattering light and once speeches are done and you have had a couple of drinks then as a couple you are far more relaxed.

I also love this image because I never pose, I tell you where to stand and I will gently prompt but on the whole I will let you as a couple just be you and that is when little moments like this occur and combined with that light well then it’s magic.
