We are rolling back to 2023 today! Gosh, where has the time gone, I have soooo many gorgeous weddings to share on here but not enough time. It’s been so nice going through my archives and today I am sharing the stunning, super relaxed and FUN London wedding of Lucy & Tim at St Stephen’s Church in Hampstead.

Firstly, lets talk about St Stephens. this beautiful building was originally designed by Samuel Teulon and built in the late 1800s as a church for the local area as the populations of Hampstead & Belsize park were increasing. It was made redundant in 1977 and left empty and derelict until 2002 when it was deconsecrated and taken over by the trust that has restored it to now be a space for the community.

This space really is quite breathtaking, with the brickwork and huge windows, plus I love that it’s now somewhere to bring people together whether thats a wedding or a community project. And that’s why Lucy & Tim loved it. It’s an amazing space for a wedding and you can everything there, from ceremony right through to the party.

I began my day though at Lucy & Tim’s flat. Everyone was pitching in to help while enjoying bagels. Lucy being a person after my own heart really wanted to just be herself for the day so did her own hair & makeup and chose a really simple but beautiful dress from Monsoon.

This really was a family affair, with simple flowers done by family members and the cake made by Lucy’s Grandmother. This is essentially what weddings were before they became a huge industry with trends. People gathering in a community space and contributing something to the celebration. And I am here for this.

The ceremony was personal and so sweet. Followed by the biggest of confetti throws before everyone got into the serious business of eating & drinking. There was also a real playful vibe to this day which I think was energy bought by the kids. Oh and there was the most delicious pie & mash provided by The Humble Pie.

And then we partied and these guys partied hard. I loved how the dancing took over the entire space. This day was a joy to photograph and a joy to return to for this blog post. I hope you enjoy the photos and also find some inspiration in just how relaxed this wedding was.
