Wedding photo of the week. Eighteen.
Number eighteen is definitely a week late so apologies for that. Last week was a sad week where I have now seen most of my 2020 weddings postpone, I have only a handful left in my diary and that makes me feel very sad. While I still have them to look forward to and I totally agree with my couples postponing it still makes me sad that I might not be able to do the job I love this year.
Coming to terms with that, alongside my couples is very much a grieving process, especially after this year was supposed to be my tenth year in business and I was looking forward to it being the year I got back on my feet after a turbulent 2018 and 19. But life doesn’t always work out the way you planned it and there will be many positives from this situation as well negatives such as enjoying a summer for the first time in years where I won’t be working most weekends or stuck in editing during the week.
A big thank you to my couples as well for being fantastic at communicating and working with me to make sure everyone is looked after in this situation to the best of our abilities.
Today’s photo of the week is a little favourite of mine from Polly & James’ beautiful 2017 wedding at Goodnestone Park in Kent. There are a number of simple reasons I love this image.
Firstly, the room. The bridal prep room at Goodnestone Park is stunning. It’s always well worth choosing somewhere either special to you (so home or parents house) or somewhere beautiful to get ready purely to make your photos awesome.
Secondly, the light. Not all moments at weddings happen in perfect light so when they do as a documentary wedding photographer I get very excited. This image sees that window light hitting Polly perfectly and I just love it.
Lastly, the moment. There is something about bridal prep just towards the end where the relaxed vibe leaves and is replaced by a slight hurried excitement to bring the last things together and this photo to me has always represented that, especially because it’s slightly out of focus and a little soft. It’s not perfect but that adds to it.
So there you go, that’s the eighteenth instalment of wedding photo of the week.
Lots of love
Ami
