Wedding photo of the week. Fourteen.

natural wedding photographer in lincolnshire

It’s a month of isolation for me now. I won’t lie to you, I am struggling mentally. 31 groundhog days in a row are definitely testing my resilience. I desperately miss my work and all the wonderful experiences it brings into my life. I can tell you right now there will be no happier day for me than when I next photograph a wedding.

I have decided this week to turn my phone off and only check in on socials and emails once a day and its doing me some good, one thing this whole experience is making me thinking about it what is really important in my life. Spending less time on my phone is definitely one of them despite my phone being my only form of contact with my friends and family at the moment. I have been feeling uncomfortable with how much time I have to spend on my own, but now I am trying to embrace it in a bid to really get to know myself. It’s not easy my head is a very busy place and distraction is always the easier option for me.

Wedding photo of the week has become over the past weeks a little journal for me during this terribly strange time. 2020 was meant to be my tenth year as a wedding photographer, it was filled with amazing weddings with wonderful couples and I am so sad some of those have had to be postponed. I am sad for everyone who has suffered because of this pandemic.

What has been lovely though is going through my archives, especially as I am not going to have any new content for a while. I am really enjoying going through weddings from the past decade and selecting images that I loved creating.

This one has always been a favourite of mine of Holly & James from their beautiful 2017 Lincolnshire Tipi wedding it’s up there with one of my favourite couple sessions ever.

The ingredients for an amazing couple photo session on a wedding day are the following:

  • Amazing light, golden hour or sunset is the best time

  • A few glasses of wine or beer whatever your preference to feel relaxed

  • Laughter and embracing the awkwardness

  • A decent amount of banter between me and you guys

  • and some gentle non-cheesy prompts from me

This image is the combination of all of the above. Me, Holly & James spent half an hour messing around in a field after they had had the wedding breakfast and speeches. The light was perfect and these guys were slightly merry and all loved up so everything fell together perfectly when I asked James to give Holly a kiss on the cheek. It’s just a happy love filled photo that is true to Holly & James which is why it’s this weeks photo of the week.

See you next week xx
