My Top Ten Wedding Venues.
This is a first for me. While I have really enjoyed putting together some guest post blogs for you all from some other incredible wedding suppliers, I thought I would put together some of my own content to help a little with your wedding planning. And there is no better place to start than with wedding venues.
As a couple planning your wedding this is obviously your first port of call when planning your wedding day and as a wedding photographer I have had the joy of working at some pretty wonderful venues over the years so I thought I would put together a blog post of some of my favourite venues from over the years.
These are in no particular order and some I have photographed weddings at and some I have photographed editorials at and I would love to do a wedding there.
MURTHLY CASTLE IN SCOTLAND
It’s no secret that I love Scotland and I love photographing weddings up there. It’s such a magical place and Murthly Castle is such a magical wedding venue. Set at the foot of the Perthshire Highlands this family run estate only hosts 12 weddings a year in order to maintain their exceptionally high service. With a private church on the estate (which is beyond beautiful) and the most stunning gardens with an extensive Rhododendron collection. I absolutely loved photographing Sarah & Tim’s wedding there in 2018 and they had the best party despite the rain. You can see more this wonderful venue and the wedding I photographed there by clicking on the button.
LOFT STUDIOS IN LONDON
Loft Studios in West London is the ultimate urban London wedding venue for me. A huge warehouse style space with amazing brickwork and light makes this place super special. It’s also the best wedding venue for an epic party as I discovered when I photographed Lucy & Arjun’s wedding there last year. The team at Loft Studios are also amazing and what they helped Lucy & Arjun create was nothing short of fantastic. I also love the area around the venue as it’s so industrial and we got some of my favourite couple photos to date. You can check out more Loft Studios wedding photography on the button below.
EASTWELL MANOR IN KENT
Eastwell Manor is probably the most perfect country wedding venue in Kent! I absolutely loved photographing Jemma & Marks wedding there last summer with two beautiful walled gardens, stunning bedrooms (perfect for prep) and falconry, yes actual falconry this venue has it all for the perfect countryside wedding. Jemma and Mark had a huge day with people travelling from all over the world and every single part of their wedding was wonderful and well supported by the brilliant team at Eastwell Manor. You can see more of their day on the button below.
THE ASYLUM IN LONDON
I think most of us have heard of the Asylum Chapel in Peckham. That beautiful bombed out ruin turned into a South East London wedding venue by Maverick Projects. With the most stunning textures, colours and light this place really is something special. I have been lucky enough to photograph twice there. Once for a same sex wedding inspiration shoot that was published by Love My Dress and again to second shoot for another photographer and I would love to photograph a wedding there as a main shooter. I have so many amazing ideas for couple photos. You can see more of the inspiration shoot I photographed there by hitting the button.
SMEDMORE HOUSE IN DORSET
Smedmore House in Dorset is just stunning. There is no other way to describe it. It’s the perfect summer wedding venue. You can have your ceremony outside overlooking the Jurassic coastline, drinks and speeches in the walled garden and a beautiful meal and party in a stretch tent in front of the venue with gorgeous views. It is the ideal outdoor wedding venue and I am so excited to be photographing my second wedding there this summer. You can see more of Alice & Tom’s wedding day there by hitting the button.
OXO TOWER IN LONDON
I visited Oxo 2 last summer while associate photographing for Kirsty Mackenzie and fell in love with this Southbank wedding venue. Big, beautiful and bright this is a great space to host a London wedding and I absolutely loved working there. The food is just incredible and you can have a proper party here. There is also an abundance of places for couple and group photos including that epic London skyline. It really is a wonderful city wedding venue. You can see more of the wedding I photographed there by clicking on the button.
ISLINGTON METAL WORKS IN LONDON
I love the Islington Metal Works. I photographed an editorial there last year and this space is truly unique. From the cobbled floor to the iconic tube train bar area this venue is made up of so many unique elements and I loved shooting there. The staff are also amazing and went above and beyond to make sure that we had everything we needed for the shoot. We also got to see them in action in the evening when they were hosting a food tasting for some of their couples and food and atmosphere was amazing. I really hope to do a wedding there in the future especially as one of the images (see below) from that shoot won me an award. SWYNFORD MANOR IN CAMBRIDGESHIRE
I have photographed two weddings now at Swynford Manor in Cambridgeshire and both have been in the winter. This is a great venue for a winter wedding and nothing is too much trouble for the staff. I love the black and white decor and the garden room is a beautiful space for your reception. I have loved both of my visits there and for wedding photography in the winter this venue has everything you need to make sure the weather isn’t an issue. You can see Lauren & Luke’s snowy wedding there by clicking on the button.
NOTLEY ABBEY IN BUCKINGHAMSHIRE
I love Notley Abbey in Buckinghamshire, its such a stunning country house and the perfect place for a wedding anytime of year. I have photographed two weddings there now and both times have been great experiences. As well as the beautiful indoor spaces this venue has the most stunning gardens and their drive is my favourite drive in the whole of the UK, long and treelined it’s a great place for sunset couple photos. You can see more of my visit there last summer by clicking on the button.
LANWADES HALL IN SUFFOLK
Lanwades Hall in Suffolk is still a relatively new wedding venue and I had the pleasure of photographing an editorial there in 2018. This venue is a historic Tudor style manor house and has the most beautiful dark wood paneling and some stunning pockets of light. This place has a really unique atmosphere and the walled garden would be the perfect place for an outdoor ceremony, drinks and photos. I loved the images we created there which were featured by Whimsical Wonderland Weddings and you can see more of those images by clicking on the button.
